Tuesday Update

So, weighed myself this morning. 179.6. Blah. At least I didn't go up.

Yesterday was actually a good day - I did break down and have a slice of cake at lunch (I'm sorry, ticker!) so that shot my calorie count waaaaay up there. But I refrained from doing anything ultra dumb for the rest of the night, and even burned off some of the calories thanking my husband for the flowers he sent me last week. Wink wink.

On the exercise front, I am packing my uniform tonight in the hopes of rejoining the karate world! I'm gonna get my ass kicked. I know it, my ass knows it, and the teacher probably knows it too. Hopefully I'm doing a form I already know. *crossing fingers*

Oh crap, I forgot to weigh myself yesterday.

I just remembered yesterday was Saturday, that's one of my weigh-in days! Oops. At least I went to the gym?

I was amazed my ID card was still in the little bin up front! I enjoy going Saturdays after 12:00 noon, because all of the yuppies are already home. They make me look bad, in my oversize sweatpants and large karate shirt. I wish they made affordable, flattering workout clothes for people who are not Barbie. Spandex or stretchy pants + Cat do not mix.

Even he looks better than I in stretchy pants.

Hopefully as my muffins go down I will look better in my sweatpants and not have to wear the large shirts and look like an apple.

Anywho, I did a small stint on the elliptical, and then hit the weights. They always make me feel better, but don't even compare to when I work up a sweat out on a walk or run, or on the treadmill. So, I am going to do my best to work a treadmill walk into my mornings. I like to reserve my mornings for yoga and pilates, to stretch myself out and help my back, but now that I'm all technologically groovy with the iTunes and such, and my iPod now has better music on it (hello there, Glee soundtrack and Donnas cd) I should be able to handle at least 15 minutes of treadmilling in my bo-ring basement.

So, this weekend's assessment:
gym = good
eating = not great, but I didn't overdose on the sweets. I had one oreo rice krispie treat (yes, they taste like cookies 'n' cream ice cream) and resisted the rest of the goodies at the bake sale.

Tuesday Update & new reading material!

(one day late, shoot me)

So I was sick on Mon and Tues, didn't get to do anything. Lately I haven't been able to get up in the mornings, either, so that puts a damper on the morning-work-out wishes.

My jeans don't fit anymore, and I've hit my Highest Weight Ever (HWE for future reference), that weight that I don't want to go past EVER (future fetus weight included), so I'd better get to steppin' on this weight-loss thing.

I was browsing the bargain book section at borders this weekend (don't you LOVE all the alliteration in this post?) and came across a lovely cheap tome called The Gorgeously Green Diet, and while the bargain books are usually a bargain for a reason, I skimmed a few of the recipes in the back and couldn't pass this one up.

It has a lot of really good information. Besides having three main food plans based on your level of eco-madness, there are also websites to back up and search for everything, which tugs at the heartstrings of an internerd like me.

I'm only a third of the way through right now, just past the eating plans, and while I'm not sure if I can commit to every meal in my plan (I'm in the middle), I am going to try to commit to most. It's hard right now because - duh - it's winter. Welcome to PA, the Land of Dead Things and Potholes during winter. Which directly leads to the Land of Construction during summer.

I'll let you know more as I keep truckin' - there apparently is a password in the book which you can use at the website, which is another juicy tidbit for me. Anything that says "here, a secret password! and it has nothing to do with Ovaltine!" gets me all hot and bothered.

and my sister bought the original:

check it out at Amazon, yo.
